I’ve been a subscriber for about 8 years, it’s a wonderful publication. Best of its kind. All Summer Long was one of the first LPs I heard by the boys, as my dear sister bought it new, and I think I played it more than her! It’s a tribute to the summer that we wish we all could have again.

Best wishes from Germany. It is s rather dull and wet summer here at the moment, so I need Brian Wilson’s music to take me away from it all, at least for a few minutes in my mind. I have been a subscriber for a couple of years now, and I am still wondering why the Beach Boys aren’t as popular here in Germany as they are in Britain. But I’m trying to spread the Word …

Just subscribed last month for the first time! Loving ESQ. All Summer Long was the first album by The Beach Boys that I truly loved. I remember seeing them “play” the song Little Honda in some silly beach movie as a kid and always wondered why it was never released as a single. I still hum it every time I see a groovy little motorbike go down the road. I was born in 1984 and simply adore The Beach Boys. The fact that I came of age in the 2000s and that The Beach Boys music still is the sound of summer to me and my friends speaks volumes about the timelessness of not just the music, but Brian, Mike, Carl, Dennis, and Al’s spirit.

I’ve been a subscriber to Endless Summer Quarterly since 2017. The information I’ve learned on The Beach Boys, pop music, and the surrounding culture through ESQ has greatly informed my musical studies in University, and been an inspiring asset to my love of harmony and recording. All Summer Long to me is perhaps the pinnacle of the California Dream, and one of the first perfectly crafted Beach Boys records. From start to finish every base is covered: Mike Love’s catchy hooks, Brian’s growing melodicism, balladry and production techniques, the drive of Denny’s drumming, some of Carl’s finest lead and 12-string guitar work, and Al’s exceptional yet extremely underrated bass guitar work. A quintessential Beach Boys album for this summer, past summers, and all future summers.

I’ve been a subscriber since before the convention in San Diego in 1990. It’s a fine publication and I wouldn’t dream of being without it. The Beach Boys (and Brian) mean the world to me. I can only count on a few fingers the artists who have sustained me and gotten me through very tough times. Thanks, ESQ, and thank you to Brian, too!

I’m still in my first year as a subscriber and catching up on back issues. I’m thrilled to see this give-away because I just posted about this album today! It’s an underrated album and such a joy to listen to! It was certainly the first step in the progression towards Pet Sounds. I love the use of xylophone as the foundation of the song and the unusual choice of having a piccolo solo!

I’ve been a subscriber to Endless Summer Quarterly for about 15 years! ALL SUMMER LONG, a legendary album since the first track “I Get Around”… history of music. A very special place in my heart for “We’ll Run Away”, Brian’s voice at his best! And the title track…wow how many times you can listen to it everywhere, on TV, radio, on The Simpsons … endless!

The cover is mythic, can bring to you all the feelings of this wonderful era, every one of us, I’m sure of it, dreamed to be there playing with the Boys!

We’ve been having fun all summer long …

I’ve currently been a Subscriber for 5 months but have subscribed before! The All Summer Long Album is important as its track “Let’s Run Away” marks a departure away from the Surf Beach records to a More Mature Studio Sound that was to be part of the Today! album Culminating in the Revolutionary Pet Sounds Album!

I’ve been a subscriber for around 18 months … I should have joined much sooner! I really love All Summer Long to me, it feels like a concept album, a celebration of summer. It’s also my 12 years old’s favorite. it’s the best of the early albums as far as I am concerned!

I’ve been an ESQ subscriber for three years, and now wish I’d signed up years earlier.

To me, All Summer Long (along with Today) are the best, most cohesive, pre-Pet Sounds albums. The innocence is still there (just listen to the title track), but the music is developing and becoming more complex (think Hushabye, We’ll Run Away, and Girls On The Beach). And the cover is probably my favourite of all of the Boys’ albums. Although 56 years have passed since the album came out, it still sounds new, fresh and timelEss.

I like All Summer Long because it is THE summer album, remember to visit my relatives in Greeley Colorado 1983 and felt the American summer feeling. I think I have been a subscriber for over 10 years now. I also found old places here in Sweden where Wilson/Loves old relatives lived Before immigration to USA. I have met Mike Love twice and gave him a Swedish family tree, the only one I don’t have an autograph of is Bruce (not counting Dennis and Carl who I never met).

So cool! I’ve been a subscriber on and off for over 15 years. Recently re-subscribed, and so happy I did! The All Summer Long album is your quintessential summer album! You got your number one rocking hit with “I Get Around”, and your soft young innocent ballad of “We’ll Run Away”, and tight harmonies on “Hushabye”. And, “Don’t Back Down” is underrated! Thanks for doing this, David.

I’ve been a subscriber since Spring 2014 I believe.

I think what makes the music of The Beach Boys and All Summer Long so special is that it captures the essence of what it is like to be a young person in America. Not just in the 60s, but now as well.

I’ve been a subscriber for 2 years. All summer Long is great because it is the perfect midpoint for the band. They retained their youthful joyousness but framed it in sophisticated, world-changing arrangements. As long as there is summer, this album will be relevant.

My dad and I have been subscribed for a couple of year on and off, and ordered tons of back issues! All Summer Long has always been my favorite Beach Boys album, from the fantastic album cover to the amazing songs, and Dennis’ lead on Girls on the Beach, it’s just an amazing record. I used to play Don’t Back Down over and over again as a kid! Hushabye, Wendy, little Honda… there are so many wonderful happy summer tunes that make this album really special. “And remember only you can prevent forest fires!“ It is such a special moment in the bands catalog that is sometimes overshadowed by other highlights. The Beach Boys are timeless – every summer they are our soundtrack, and thank goodness because we never tire of them. It takes Good timin! 🙂

LOVE the Beach Boys! A new subscriber, I am so glad I found ‘Endless Summer Quarterly’ through the Face Book page. The beach Boys are definitely America’s Band, more so one of America’s most precious Treasures! There is no better way to explore and discover America than through/with the Beach Boys music! “All Summer Long” gives you that light-hearted youthful feeling, even in the coldest of winters. Timeless music for all generations!

1. Been a subscriber for many years, at least the last 5 continuously, before that as the budget would allow.
2. “I Get Around” is NOT the standout for me. The title track, “Hushabye,” “Wendy” … they can all put me in a good mood very quickly. The Beach Boys’ music is all about being transported through vocals and arrangements. Don’t get me wrong, “I Get Around” is a great track, just not my usual favorite on the disc.

Dear David,

I’ve been a subscriber of ESQ on and off again for several years and currently a subscriber again.

I’ve been a fan of The Beach Boys since 1975 and have been to about 15 concerts. Their music has been an integral part of my life as long as I can remember.

For example, during the Gulf War, I was a journalist on a Navy ship which also made me the DJ when we still played vinyl records for the crew. I brought my entire Beach Boys vinyl collection on the 6-month cruise-including my L.A. Light Album, signed by all the boys, even Dennis. During turbulent seas, the albums were damaged including the signed copy. This is a long story explaining why I’d love to win! 😊

Thanks so much, Mike Moran

Hi, I am a new subscriber. I should have subscribed years ago but never got around to it. I’m so happy I have managed to do it now, it’s better late than never! I have seen and read many past copies of ESQ due to friends who have subscribed before and have always been extremely impressed. Without a doubt the finest publication of its type! All Summer Long is one of my favorite Beach Boys’ albums. The perfect soundtrack to summer! From the high energy of “I Get Around”, the fun-filled title track “All Summer Long”, the glorious “Hushabye” with its jaw-dropping harmonies, the teenage angst, and romance of songs like “We’ll Run Away” and “Wendy” to the timeless summer vibe of “Girls On The Beach”, it’s all pure summer classic 60’s Beach Boys! There’s even more to delight with great upbeat songs like “Little Honda”, “Do You Remember”, “Drive In” and one for all the surfers, “Don’t Back Down” What an album! Pretty much the ultimate in summer sound that has stood the test of time as has all of The Beach Boys’ music. When you listen to a Beach Boys album or song and hear those lush, distinctive harmonies, you know it’s them instantly, they have no equal, which is why their songs will last forever!

I’ve been a subscriber of ESQ since 2015 and a Beach Boys fan for much longer. It’s hard to pick a favorite BB album because they all have such unique aspects that make them great. And even their best albums have those slight imperfections or what ifs surrounding their history that makes it even more fun to debate its greatness among others in their catalog. All Summer Long always stood out to me as one of the most consistent BB albums and as Brian Wilson’s first major creative statement. The album holds together as a collection of songs as well as anything The Beach Boys did outside of Pet Sounds. It’s the ideal soundtrack for a summer day!

I have been an ESQ subscriber for over 10 years and I look forward to each issue to all the great stories and interviews about my favorite band. The Beach Boys were the first concert I ever attended back in 1965 at Philadelphia’s Convention Hall. It’s been a great ride. I remember when I first bought the All Summer Long LP. I thought all the girls in those pictures were their girlfriends! The songs from that LP have always evoked my memories on the Jersey shore at Ocean City. I especially love the song I Get Around which I remember being played repeatedly on the radio all summer long of 1964 on WIBG.

Been an ESQ subscriber for a few years now, and I must say the Sunflower issue (Summer 2020) was one of my all-time favorites. I learned so much about that landmark album. All Summer Long is a perfect summer album and a real leap forward for our boys. I Get Around (c’mon!), Hushabye, We’ll Run Away, Wendy, Don’t Back Down! These songs are part of the soundtrack of my life. As we approach the 60th anniversary, it really hits home that this music (and this album in particular) is timeless. Long live the Beach Boys!

I bought this album when I was 9 in 1964, I thought the songs were amazing, I Get Around, All Summer Long, they just glowed with happiness and sunshine. The sound of the guitar on Hushabye was so warm and rich, with those beautiful harmonies over it. The cover art, with its hues of sunshine fit right with the music. Also, it had, to me as a 9 year old, a bonus track; Don’t Back Down, so cool! Many years later I would be in the studio with Dennis, me playing drums. Some of which came out on Bambu. Been a subscriber off and on for about 10 years. 🙂

I’m only a 2 years ESQ subscriber. English is not my 1st language so it’s hard for me to leave such a comment…
For me, all summer long shows the quintessence of Beach Boys sound. Mike’s lead (but not too much nasal) combined with Brian’s falsetto. This is the real “endless summer” Beach Boys sound. The one which will stay as a legend (even if I really love Carl and Al’ s voices… ) All summer long looks like a compilation. So many hits… and the sleeve is adding something to the sentiment of good time summer music. This lp will always be a great picture of the 60s California innocence dreaming way of life. When I listen to this music and look at the sleeve, I wish I wasn’t living there in the 60s. One of the greatest Beach Boys LP. (And I think there were very good vibrations between the band members there… it was before any problems. Good time music for a good time in the band!

I’m a proud Endless Summer Quarterly subscriber for 4 years, and look forward to many more!

The Beach Boys are not only the kind of band I get excited to listen to personally, but also to introduce to others who “know” the Beach Boys but might not be fully aware of all the complexities and depths in their compositions. I feel like All Summer Long is a great place to start discovering these musical gems for any listener- it truly is a catalyst album, showcasing Brian’s evolving songwriting as he propelled them from their traditional surf/California sounds into even more awesomely intricate symphonic arrangements. All Summer Long songs like “I Get Around,” “Wendy,” and “Little Honda” may seem to be simple catchy songs on the surface at first listen, but below their surfaces are extremely unique and complicated musical compositions. I feel like this trait in their huge catalog of songs is a gift distinctive to The Beach Boys, which makes them both so unmistakably recognizable in their sound and still so relevant and fresh-sounding to listeners of all ages. All Summer Long is such an interesting time period in the Beach Boy’s fascinating history, and I personally enjoy thinking about it as the start of Brian’s creative competition with bands like The Beatles and as a musical pivot point in the evolution of a truly timeless band. And a huge thanks goes out to ESQ for helping contribute to this legacy and giving fellow Beach Boys fans something to look forward to every quarter!

It is now the second year that I am a subscriber of Endless Summer Quarterly.

The All Summer Long LP brings back great memories of a time when I was pretty young and “fell in love” with the Beach Boys. As my hometown is in the northern part of Germany very close to the Baltic Sea and the North Sea we felt a bit like Beach Boys in the summertime when the weather was high and we even tried some body surfing time and again.

At the age of 13, I got my first LP of the band as a Christmas present from my parents. That was in 1966 and it was a compilation especially for the German market entitled Surf Beat Fun. The tracks were all over the place including Little Honda, I Get Around and All Summer Long as well as “Surfin USA,” “Hawai,” “Fun, Fun Fun,” and other hit records. My favorite track was All Summer Long and it took me a while until I realized that there was an LP with this title. I bought it in 1967 from my pocket money and it was on heavy rotation on my record player for quite a long time. When I retired as a principal two years ago the Big Band of my school played some tracks of The Beach Boys for me and all the guests enjoyed it.

Everytime I hear a song by The Beach Boys it always puts a smile on my face.

I have been a subscriber for about 4 years now and am really happy that I made this decision since it’s an amazing publication!
All Summer Long is one of my top favorite Beach Boys albums and also one of my favorite albums of all time, period. It’s such an amazing album with gems such as the title track, Little Honda, Wendy (of course), and my favorite song on the album Hushabye. Along with Shut Down Vol. 2, this album showed that Brian was on the cusp of legendary status and showed that he is one of the greatest producers of all time.
The Beach Boys’ music is timeless due to their harmonies and wonderful songwriting style. Aside from their most well known music from the 1960s, they have incredible albums in the following decades such as Surf’s Up, Holland, Love You, and their self-titled album from 1985, which are among my favorites.
Even though I was born in 1996, their music still speaks to me and will continue to speak to me all throughout my life. Thanks to Brian, Carl, Dennis, Mike, and Al.

Ive Been a subscriber to ESQ since March 2020, What I think is special about All Summer Long is it includes The Beach Boys first 1# hit I Get Around which is a timeless classic of rock as well as the song little honda which I find amazing as the guitar on the song sounds like a small engine and it flows amazing. This album specifically embodies just how timeless The Beach Boys music is as many of the songs on the album are still being played on radio and are still being introduced to new generations

The Beach Boys are the greatest band of all time. “I Get Around” is my all-time favorite song. Brian Wilson is the greatest songwriter ever. He’s a musical genius. They are the most underrated band ever. Most people only recognize them for some of their surf hits and radio played songs. They are so much more and so much deeper than the average person has heard. They surpass The Beatles by far. It would be an honor to own this signed record. I am not a subscriber to this magazine yet.

Although not one of their biggest hits, All Summer Long is a special song that really captures the theme of “America’s Band”. Other favorites on the album include “Do You Remember” (a fun look back at the so-long-ago 1950s), Don’t Back Down (one of my favorite surf songs), Little Honda, and of course I Get Around.
