A note from ESQ subscriber Gina Marie-Gugliuzza

Dear ESQ,

I’d like to start by saying how much I’m enjoying ESQ. It’s so well written, well put together, and has such great information and interviews. The first issue I received was the ‘Remembering Nicky Walusko’ issue. The first time I saw Brian and his group live was the first show they played without Nick and I’ve always wished I’d gotten to see him. In your editorial for that issue, you wrote that you hoped we’d feel like we knew him a little better after reading it, and I truly enjoyed getting to know him through the memories everyone shared.

Being such a new subscriber, I never dreamed my comment would be chosen to win the signed copy of The Beach Boys with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra LP. I’ve been collecting autographs from musicians I’ve seen live for about 10 years now and can’t thank you all enough for this amazing addition to my little collection. I’ve been a Beach Boys fan as long as I can remember, and I can’t think of anything that makes me happier than seeing their music live. I was so sad about the concert and meet & greet at Capitol Theater being (understandably) postponed, and it really cheered me up to win this. I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy and I’m looking forward to getting back out on the road to see some more shows.

Gratefully,
Gina Gugliuzza

I have made a subscription to ESQ, living in the UK there are very few magazines about The Beach Boys, which to my mind is a shame. I have liked them since the 1980s and although I am not able to see the Beach Boys in concert (the venues are quite a distance for me as I have to use public transport), Their music is timeless. Some years ago I suffered from sleep deprivation, getting a good night’s sleep was virtually impossible. However, I did find a cure (not prescription medicine). What was it? “Surfer Girl.” I played it before going to sleep. The result was 8 hours of blissful slumber so much so my sister had to carefully remove my CD Walkman from my hands!!. I still play it now, for me its the best medicine ever, thank you Beach Boys.
