I love the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra recordings because it really shows the artistry and talent (and work) that went into all of these songs. You can listen over and over and always find different little parts of the arrangements that you hadn’t noticed before. I’m a new subscriber and have t gotten my first issue yet, but I’m so looking forward to it. If I won, this would be my very first beach boys lp, as I’ve spent the past couple years traveling to all the live shows I can. Thanks so much for the opportunity 😊

‘The Beach Boys With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’ was an unexpected, yet wonderful reinvention of some of the most beloved songs of all time. Hearing the soaring Beach Boys harmonies paired with the lush arrangements had me shouting “I Can Hear Music!”

The music of The Beach Boys has always touched me. Their heartfelt songs, unmatched melodies and the dreaminess of their harmonies along with the background arrangements of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra brings me to tears. This new combination of the classic Beach Boys sound compiled with the romanticism of the orchestra, keeps their music fresh and soothing in today’s hectic world. I find after a hard day’s work, listening to this magical sounds and production quality of this album helps me find my center and inner peace.

1) i’ve just signed up ESQ and am looking forward to the new issue and accompanying back issues.
2) The album of Beach Boys songs re-imagined with the RPO provides an interesting new perspective on these songs. it’s a little strange to hear an orchestral accompaniment to such familiar recordings, but upon repeated listens it reveals new components on many of these songs. The angle used on Disney Girls particularly benefits the song, further complimenting its sweetness. The intro to Heroes and Villains really sends home the heroic vibe that’s not particularly present in the original. The arrangement of Here Today is another standout. The vocal tracks in particular take on a greater prominence and the arrangement smooths out a few imperfections in the original. I’ve collected almost all the Beach Boys albums on record and the RPO album is one of the holes in my collection.

I have been a subscriber to this fabulous magazine for just over 6 months now. Great publication.

This is just a perfect combination, mixing the original vocals, which cannot be copied, improved and should never be altered in any way. Marry this with the incredible instrumentals from the RPO and it really is a match made in Heaven.

I read some comments from fans saying that they refused to listen as you shouldn’t mess with the original songs, and whilst I can understand the sentiment, as the originals seemed so perfect, if you listen to this as a complimentary project, which is how it is intended then I can’t see why you wouldn’t love it, as I do.

Of all the great tracks on here, my favourite is actually Sloop John B. I just think it works perfectly with the orchestra. That said, I love it all.

What I love about the Royal Philharmonic album is that it adds a fun new spin to already perfect songs. All of us Beach Boys fans know these songs inside and out, so to get a new and different way to listen to them, adds a renewed appreciation for the songs that the boys wrote so many years ago. On a personal level, it was great to bond with my teenage son over listening to this album and talking about the songs and what the orchestra added. The Beach Boys have always been a constant in my life and I owe so much to their music.

I’ve been a subscriber since last May. I became aware of the magazine through the amazing Good Vibration podcasts which, when I discovered them, I listened through them all over just a few weeks! I have around 10,000 albums after about 40 years of collecting but my favorite album of all time is Pet Sounds, and has been since 1990. Smile is just a touch behind! Being honest, when I first heard of the Philharmonic project I was skeptical to say the least! However, I listened with an open mind, and ears, and was completely won over by the simple beauty and wonder of both the arrangements and the performances. Yes of course it’s different to the original recordings but it made me look at and hear those songs and those voices and those melodies with a new awe and appreciation. Well done to all involved I say! And just to add that I’ve seen both Brian, Al and Blondie’s band AND Mike and Bruce’s band in the last year and absolutely loved them both. “And I’m hoping that you feel it too”. Let’s cherish them all, while we’ve still got them!

I’ve been a subscriber for over one year now but I’m a fan of The Beach Boys for more then 30 years. Why I want this signed album? Well … I don’t have a signed album of The Beach Boys. But If I’m honest, I think the album would have been better if they kept only the original vocals and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra would play all the music. More like “It’s Over Now” and “Still I Dream Of It” from the unreleased “Big Band” album Adult Child. My favorite song on the album is “The Warmth of The Sun”.

Hi Beach Boys fans and ESQ subscribers! I’m a lifelong die-hard fan, and a 3 year ESQ subscriber. This recording is special to me because it embellishes an eclectic selection of the Beach Boys catalog while retaining the original vocals and some original instrumental performances that remain iconic and timeless. I would love to have either of these pieces in my collection because they are a part of history; a legacy of music that I still find so much joy in. Thanks David for all that you do, and good luck to all in the giveaway! As always, it’s an exciting time to be a Beach Boys fan!

I love the album and hearing the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra behind the vocal masterpieces that Brian and mike ceratitid just adds to the beautiful music. I still say Good Vibrations has never been equaled by any group. So many of their songs will last forever do to the masterpiece of arrangements and the Philharmonic just added to it without interfering with it is why it was so beautifully done. tom Brady

What I love about The Beach Boys with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is that on top of the original recordings of the music and how emotional those can be, the Orchestra adds even more emotion making It sound even more beautiful and soulful. And I would love to have either versions in my collection of vinyl because of how unique and beautiful it is.

Hello!

My name is Josh, I’m 24 years old, and I’m a brand new subscriber to Endless Summer Quarterly. While new to the newsletter, I’m not new to the incredible music of the Beach Boys and Brian Wilson. Beach boys music is timeless. I was introduced to the Beach Boys by my late grandfather who owned an auto mechanic shop and hosted car shows. Now, I’m keeping the music going! The Beach Boys with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra transforms Brian’s songs into the orchestra masterpieces that they were meant to be. The album shines a fresh and exciting light on my favorite songs, (Wouldn’t It Be Nice, Sloop John B, and even Disney Girls!) and creates a new experience for old and new listeners. These arrangements are truly peaceful and a joy to listen to. One day, I will pass this record (along with my other Beach Boys records) down to my future kids, as my grandfather did for me!

I love all the guys! I was raised by my grandparents, had a grandma who was the biggest fan of The Beach Boys, that rubbed off on me. In turn, I raised my brother Reagan. Reagan has autism and growing up, I didn’t know if he’d ever talk. If he had something to say, he’d either write it down or nod his head if asked a question. But, Reagan would listen to the beach boys with me and he’d actually sing their songs. Beach Boys songs were the only thing coming from his mouth when he was little, but he wouldn’t have a conversation with anyone. I hope that makes sense. Now, Reagan doesn’t stop talking. But had it not been for The Beach Boys. I don’t know that he would have ever come around. The Royal Philharmonic album is really, really amazing. Reagan and I were both excited when we heard about it. All the songs, especially Disney Girls is a winner. The album gives us a little something new with each song, while taking nothing away from the original. Any fan would be lucky to have an album signed by all the boys!

The music is an emotion. It speaks a language of whimsy and good times to the soul. It isn’t simple by any means but the message is and like all simple messages, it gets lost in the cacophony of noise which is everyday life. It’s a vacation without having to travel.

Before the internet and technology, everyone used the radio or newspapers for information in the late 70s as a young boy couldn’t wait for the release of The LA Album, heart racing as you went to the store to buy it you rush home to take the wrap off and start listening, that’s what I’ve missed so much these days.
When I heard The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra was doing the album that feeling came back anticipation and excitation wasn’t disappointed some of the tracks are amazing.

The Beach Boys and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra? It’s a dream come true, my two favorite things in one package, surf’n and the classy distinction of a well-practiced orchestra. My one regret is I was not there to see the splendor, to hear the grandeur, no, I was not there. I was a day late and a two dollars short. My dream fades, but it comes back again like an imaginary tide. There is no surf in the desert, no Royal anything, only lizards and barking cactus.

Brian always wanted a bigger sound on his records than he was able to achieve in the early-to-mid 60s. Even working with the Wrecking Crew, he still never quite achieved the sound he was seeking. I believe these remixes with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra fulfill the sound he was searching for. I would have loved to see the look on Brian’s face the first time he heard these completed tracks!

A couple of years ago, I was a part of our organization (Community Concerts of Fayetteville, NC) bringing The Beach Boys to our city for a show! I saw Brian Wilson, Al, and Blondie twice on the recent Pet Sounds tour. What an amazing show!! I would love to win this recording because it is a technical masterpiece. Hearing Brian’s music has touched my soul. I was so inspired by his work that I wrote an original EP dedicated to him called “Thank You”. The message of Love and Mercy has helped guide me through some very difficult times. Hearing his music backed by the Royal Philharmonic is a treasure for someone like me. Hearing one of the best Philharmonics in the world playing to some of the greatest melodies ever crafted and performed…it’s a winning combination. Thank you, Brian, for sharing your music and message with the world.

This album woke me up from my Beach Boys slumber. I hadn’t been listening to The Beach Boys for quite a while and yet it has always been the most mesmerizing music I’ve ever heard. I can’t tell you how wonderful it is I hear the songs again in high fidelity and with orchestral backing. As Brian said about Pet Sounds, the best way to listen to it is in a dark room with headphones. The world and its problems fade away and it’s just you and the music. Brian also said that maybe God worked through him when he wrote those melodies. I’m inclined to agree.

The Beach Boys have been a big part of my life growing up. I grew up in a town close by the beach, always having some interest in surfing and sailing. I would always listen to surf rock music, always being intrigued by the complex drum rhythms and a simple bass line being played under an electrifying electric guitar solo. My mom introduced the Beach Boys “Sounds of Summer” album to me when I was a junior in high school. When I first heard “Fun, Fun, Fun,” I was suddenly hooked and started to play the song on repeat, nearly 15-20 times. Not knowing much about the band, I started to research them and became more fascinated by how the band started and their lives as musicians. When growing up, I took piano lessons starting at the age of 8. From there, I took an interest in composition and decided to major in music in college. The Beach Boys was a major factor in this decision because they helped me to realize my passion for music and composing. I love sitting at my piano for hours. It feels like a safe place when things don’t go right in my life. Playing the Beach Boys hit song “In My Room” is my way of letting all the negativity in the world go away and in that moment, I can only focus on the chords being played. They helped me to get through many of the struggles I faced in life and helped me to become a better musician. Because of the Beach Boys, I was able to go beyond my limits and explore new ways of composing. My love for vocal harmonies and instruments came from them and I learned to experiment with different instruments to create new unique sounds. The songs they have written make a car ride along Pacific Coast Highway so much nicer as you are looking at the sunset, make tough times better, and make sitting at a piano feel like home. I can’t stress enough how the Beach Boys have taught me that music comes from the heart. Brian in a documentary I’ve recently watched once said that “the real music comes from the heart. Your eyes sees the keys and can relate to how each chord progression should be played.” I’ve taken this seriously for the past couple years and have written, orchestrated, and arranged each piece with a great deal of emotion. Each song that I write, I want to feel a great feeling of joy. I discovered “The Beach Boys and The Royal Philharmonic” back when I was freshman in college which was about four years ago. Each day, I plugged in my headphones and played this album on repeat until classes started. Whenever we are on our breaks, I would go back to listen some of the intricate vocal harmonies that blend with the orchestral instruments. I would do this even though I had the choice to talk with friends. I would only listen to this album, “Sounds of Summer”, and “Pet Sounds” no matter how far I traveled or no matter what mood I was in. My favorite song from the Royal Philharmonic album “Don’t Worry Baby” has always been my inspiration to writing music. With the string section matching the vocal harmonies to Brian’s fantastic falsetto, this song never ceases to amaze me. In my own time, I have been working on an orchestral version of this song. It has been a dream of mine to arrange and I am so thrilled by how it sounds. I would like to have this album in my collection because I would love to play the album while playing the piano accompaniment over it. I would also feel inspired to write new music knowing that several of the members have signed it. This album will make getting out of bed much easier and playing the piano much more enjoyable. Even if I don’t receive the signed album, I will always be grateful for the fact that I have other devices to play this album and I am honored to have the chance to write this. The Beach Boys are my whole world and I forever will be there biggest fan.

I feel that the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra does a wonderful job by taking the Beach Boy’s music to elegant places without changing the original music. And I think, after all, whether surrounded in elegance, or mother nature’s wilderness, the Beach Boy’s music really is elegant.
